Real Estate Industry Pet Peeves
- Frequently I am asked what are some of my Pet Peeves in the real estate business. I usually say, "where do I start?” I plan on laying out a few in this blog in the hopes that everyone can get a sense of what we deal with and how buyers and sellers can learn the dos and the absolutely do nots of real estate.
- I will start this session of Pet Peeves with one that is in the forefront. This pet peeve is crucial to the inventory problem in our current market. It is when sellers are convinced that their home is special and is the only house on the market that is immune to price reduction. We are all in this together, no one is immune to devaluation during a downturn. My clients hire me to provide my expertise in the field of real estate, but when I discuss a price reduction as a method for sale, I am dismissed. Most times, homes remain on the market longer than they should for one reason and one reason only. That reason is that the house is overpriced, period. My hope is that sellers get that fact and adjust their prices to fit the current market conditions. It will be these sellers that are successful in this marketplace.
